Southwind
Standmount Speaker
Compact, efficient, mass loaded horn speaker. Dimensions allow it to be used on the desktop, but the sound is much bigger. Sold in pairs. $1,450.00/pair. Shipping in Spring 2025.

Notes from the designer:
Scott Lundgren, Woden Design, Scotland
The Eastern Bay Sound Southwind is a desktop sized mass-loaded Voigt pipe (mass-loaded horn) designed for the Markaudio CHR/P-90 5 1/2in full range drive units. The ML-horn configuration was selected for its slightly greater low frequency gain bandwidth (operating range) over alternatives, making it an efficient and flexible load for its modest size. The internal geometry features a twin-folded layout to provide an optimal offset for the drive unit, reducing the amplitude of unwanted harmonic modes and the quantity of internal damping needed for proper function. Both the alloy cone CHR-90 and mica-impregnated pulp-cone CHP-90 can be used with minimal changes to the low frequency alignment. The load is based on a custom alignment developed by Dr Scott Lindgren & David Dlugos of Woden Design, which was then extensively modeled in software packages from Augspurger, AJ Systems and R&DTeam, before going through several months of prototyping and measurements from which we made final refinements to the design.
