Handcrafted Speakers Chesapeake Bay Born
Farm-To-Table Speakers crafted on the Eastern Bay.
Expert Design
Acoustic design is first and foremost.
Our designs are a collaboration with acclaimed designers at Woden Design, Scott Lindgren and David Dlugos. They use advanced acoustic models, CAD and decades of experience to create bespoke speaker designs that bring to life the full abilities of the carefully selected drivers. Our 1/4 wave designs then go through several iterations of design, test, and improvement. The final result is speakers that sound natural, reach low, and allow the drivers to breath.
Layered Joinery Enclosure
Constructed like no other
Our “inner-box - outer-box” design creates an incredibly strong enclosure, with minimal resonance and yet is surprisingly light. We first, build a premium Baltic Birch “inner-box” using woodworking joinery (think dovetail - not butt joints) that integrates the enclosure in an amazingly strong structure. Outside of that we layer an outer hardwood box that brings beauty and even more strength. The result is breathtaking beautiful, light and strong.
Real Wood
Why Real Wood?
In a world of mass-production, we think there’s something special about real hardwood - not just thin veneer. There’s something special about using real hardwoods like Walnut, Cherry and Maple. Our designs encompass inlays, joinery ends and etching and engraving that makes each speaker an artful creation. Every speaker is finished with hand rubbed oils and finally hand waxing, resulting in a crafted art piece.
Farm-To-Table?
Crafted locally, Sourced locally
We make our cabinets locally using Chesapeake Bay Area craftsmen. We source our hardwoods from the local mill where the rough lumber is milled to our specifications. Yes, we use non-local drivers, but the cabinet, assembly and whimsical nautical designs are 100% Eastern Bay.
Eastern Bay
What is the Eastern Bay?
The Eastern Bay of the Chesapeake is an area rich in nautical history. Kent Island is the 3rd oldest permanent English settlement in the US after only Jamestown and Plymouth MA, and conflicts for it’s control led to military disputes including the 1st naval battles in North American waters. Across the shallow bay to the south (Eastern Bay) lies St. Michaels, a noted ship building town in early 1800s producing the venerable fast schooners known as “Baltimore Clippers”. Also known as the “Town that Fooled the British” during naval battles in the War of 1812.
OK, we’re into the local naval history thing… what does that have to with speaker design? Well, while we can find no accounts they produced speakers during the 18th or 19th century around here… but we think they would have loved our nautical themed designs! (Yes, even the British).
Found Treasure
Real woods, Reasonable Prices
While we love being local and using real hardwoods, we’re not luddites. Our goal is to bring high-quality crafted audio products at reasonable prices. By using the latest tools like lasers, brilliant design and smart assembly we can offer truly hand crafted products at prices that everyone can enjoy - not just the landed gentry. Try us. All treasure isn’t buried on remote islands… sometimes it’s right in the middle of the Bay.
